Kristi Muzzio - Opera Singer and Voice Professor
A soprano with a vibrant stage presence and commanding tone, Kristi Muzzio possesses experience performing and teaching opera, musical theater, and jazz. She took on the role of Mother in the premier performance of Lady Swanwhite, Anton Coppola's last opera. She has also taken notable turns as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Suor Dolcina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. Kristi Muzzio was a soloist in a reading of Oomph! The Musical performed at New Orleans’ Marigny Opera House, and a soloist in the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana.
Ms. Muzzio has served as a voice instructor at the University of Northern Colorado, where she was also an academic advisor in the school’s music department. Working with undergraduates, she helped map individual graduation plans while addressing educational issues and motivating at-risk students to achieve graduation. In her most recent position as an adjunct professor of voice at Rocky Mountain College, Ms. Muzzio taught classical and musical theater voice and assisted with jury examinations and recruiting.
Kristi Muzzio’s professional interests include historical vocal pedagogy, resilience, and performance anxiety. In 2023, she presented on the topic “Gendered Singing Training: Estelle Liebling and Richard Miller’s Strategies for Teaching across Fach.”
